Manual Import (CSV)

Uploading data via CSV allows you to import feedback and other relevant data from your own datasets seamlessly. This method provides flexibility in managing and integrating your data alongside other sources within our platform.

info

On a Manual Import source all Data Sensitivity Levels are available as permitted by your subscription plan. If you start a CSV import on another source type, the sensitivity level of that source applies.

Methods for CSV Upload

A CSV upload can be performed in two ways:

  1. Manual Import:

    • Create a New Source: Choose the Manual Import source type to create a source that is always fed by your CSV uploads.
  2. Existing Sources:

    • CSV Import Button: On any existing source, you can find a CSV Import button or an Import button with a context menu (down arrow) that allows you to switch from Import to CSV Import.
    • Additional Data Upload: This method allows you to upload additional data (e.g., past data) that is then associated with the respective source in all charts and dashboards.

Source Specific Configuration Fields (New Sources Only)

When setting up the CSV Upload source, you need to provide the following configuration:

Source Identifier

Field: Source Identifier
Description: Use the same Source Identifier as used for other sources (e.g., my_import). This ensures that your CSV uploads are correctly associated with the respective data source within the platform.

Uploading a CSV File

To start a CSV upload, follow these steps using the upload wizard:

Step 1: Select or Drop the File

  • Action: Select or drag and drop your CSV file into the designated area to initiate the upload.
  • Outcome: This action will start the upload wizard.

Step 2: Specify Delimiter and Header

  • Delimiter Selection:
    • Options: Choose the character used to separate columns (e.g., , or ;).
    • Tip: If unsure, select one and proceed to the next step. If the columns or values do not appear correctly, switch to the other delimiter.
  • Header Column:
    • Option: Specify whether your CSV contains a header row.

Step 3: Map Columns

  • Feedback Dates and Feedback:
    • Action: Select which columns in your CSV contain the feedback dates and the actual feedback content.

Step 4: Specify Date Format

  • Date Format Selection:
    • Pre-checked Formats: The wizard automatically checks for common date formats.
    • Custom Format: If no green validation success message appears, provide your own date format (e.g., yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm) and click Validate.

Step 5: Preview and Confirm

  • Data Preview:
    • Action: Review a preview of the data that will be imported.
    • Decision: Continue if the preview is correct or go back to make necessary adjustments.

Finalizing the Upload

After successfully uploading the document and closing the wizard, the import process will begin automatically. Your data will be integrated and available within your charts and dashboards.
